Slaughter, Eleanor Smith
Eleanor Smith was born on June 13, 1925. She attended the University of Mississippi and was initiated into Alpha Psi chapter, where she formed a relationship with the Fraternity that would last her entire life.

Eleanor held a number of positions with Delta Gamma, including third vice president of fraternity programming, National Panhellenic Conference delegate, and director of expansion. She is the only member of Delta Gamma to have received all six individual Fraternity honors: the Cable, Shield, Anchor, Loyalty, and Oxford Awards, as well as the Order of the Delta Gamma Rose.

Eleanor was instrumental in the establishment of the Delta Gamma Fraternity Archives. She was a driving force behind the creation of the Delta Gamma Memorial Founders Room in Kosciusko, Mississippi, the birthplace of the Founders.

She also devoted her time to the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries and the Junior Auxiliary of Columbus, as well as St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Eleanor died on March 22, 2013, at her home in Columbus, Mississippi.
