Theta Epsilon
Grand Valley State University
- Founding Date
- Dec 1st, 2018
A study commissioned by the Michigan Legislature in 1958 revealed the need for a four-year college in the Grand Rapids areas. Michigan legislators were anticipating the impending tsunami of baby-boom college students. Thus, Grand Valley State College was born and became Grand Valley State University in 1987. GVSU is a public liberal arts university which serves more than 25,000 students and its main campus is situated in Allendale, Michigan. Since the early ‘60s, fraternity and sorority life has been an active part of GVSU student life. Today the Fraternity and Sorority community comprises 8.3% of the student body and maintain an all Greek GPA of 3.05%. The establishment of Theta Epsilon chapter included events led byAli Bontrager and Sarah Gornik Collegiate Development Consultants assigned to support the chapter. “Infoviews” between potential members, Fraternity staff and volunteers, and a preference event with sisters from Beta Mu-Bowling Green were held in October 2018. The establishment events culminated later that month with the pledging of the charter members of Theta Epsilon-Grand Valley State and a Bid Day celebration. Theta Gamma and its 60 charter members join the sisterhood of over 230,000 living members with their December 1, 2018 Initiation and Installation. Theta Gamma celebrates becoming Delta Gamma’s 203rd chapter since 1873, and the 151st active chapter of Delta Gamma on college campuses today.
