Sandy Price was initiated into Epsilon chapter at Ohio State University in 1960. After graduation, she began her career working in the fashion industry for designer Bill Blass but soon decided to make a radical change: she wanted to help save wildlife in Africa.
So in 1969, Sandy sold all her possessions and moved to Kenya, without knowing anyone on the entire continent and sub-letting her apartment (just in case it did not work out). She would stay for 18 years.
Sandy became involved with the Wildlife Clubs of Kenya Association, an organization designed to inspire children in Kenya for conservation, which she developed and administered for nine years. She also worked for the African Wildlife Foundation, starting as a volunteer and eventually serving as Director of African Operations. She returned to the United States for a spell, where she worked for Wildlife Conservation International, preparing exhibitions and public outreach programs. Sandy eventually moved back to Kenya, where she gardens and designs clothes with African textiles.
